It's Dr. Rane here, and today I want to share the remarkable journey of one of my patients who underwent a transformative dental treatment. Let me take you all back to 2016; I am excited to walk you through the process and the incredible results we achieved together.
Mrs. Batra, a 71-year-old and young at heart, visited me after her grandson booked her appointment with me. Like every patient, our journey started with a conversation. She came to me seeking a solution for her missing teeth, which had affected her oral health and her ability to enjoy certain foods. She had already lost many of her upper and lower jaw teeth and could barely chew food with her remaining mobile teeth. During our initial consultation, we discussed her oral health history, examined her mouth, and determined that dental implants were the optimal solution for her case.
Treatment:Before proceeding with the dental implant procedure, we conducted a series of tests, including X-rays and impressions. I ensured she was comfortable by explaining each step before beginning.
To begin with, we had to extract her remaining mobile teeth. Mrs. Batra was a little nervous about the thought that her remaining teeth would be removed, so I reminded her that the end results would be very beautiful. This extraction process and the implants began simultaneously in the same appointment so that she could achieve the result in minimal sitting & visits.
My conversations with Mrs. Batra in between the treatments were very interesting. She would talk about her beautiful family, and I would share my experiences with my everyday patients. She was a lovely lady to chat with.
Now, let's get back to the treatment procedure. After soothing her gum with local anesthesia, the teeth extraction process started. After the extraction, I gently placed the implant into her jawbone. The whole process was smoothly conducted, and Mrs. Batra also said that she was surprised that the treatment was painless. These implants would act as the teeth roots. This process would take little time to heal. So, we provided her with temporary dentures to provide support for chewing and speech. Once the healing period is over, the dentures will be replaced by implant-supported fixed teeth.
The initial days after the implant procedure involved some minor discomfort and swelling, which is completely normal. Mrs. Batra was instructed to consume a soft food diet and maintain proper oral hygiene. She would give me a call sometimes to share her progress, and the excitement in her voice would say it all.
After a few weeks of recovery, it was finally the day when she would get her permanent teeth, and she was very excited about it. With precision adjustments and careful alignment, we achieved a result that we both have been waiting for so many weeks.
Her reaction was priceless when she saw her new smile in the mirror. Her eyes lit up, and there were tears of joy. These reactions from my patients make me more passionate about what I do. Mrs. Batra's dental implant journey was not just about restoring missing teeth; it was about restoring her self-assurance and the ability to enjoy life without limitations.
Thank you for taking the time to read about her journey, and I look forward to sharing more stories of transformation in the future. Remember, a confident smile is within reach for everyone.
